1. Discovery Call
- This is where you get to know your potential clients by asking them important questions and determining how you can help them.
2. Package Proposal
- Keep a proposal template ready with your standard packages, services, and rates. Send this proposal to your potential client after your discovery call. I've created a template to make this process easy—just plug and play! You can always edit the template as needed.
💡TIP: If you really want to work with a potential client, aim to send your proposal the same day, or at least within 24 hours.
3. Client Onboarding/Welcome Packet
- At this stage, this is when the client already agreed with your package and rate offers. Welcome Packet includes the following:
- Project Timeline
- Contract
- Invoice
- Client Questionnaire
- Resources
- Tools you both use for content planning and communication
- Your business hours to set boundaries!
4. Client Dashboard
- Prepare your client dashboard to store information like - branding
- assets
- content plan
- monthly content calendar.
I prefer Notion for project management tools. It’s user-friendly and offers various features. However**,** as a social media manager, choose a tool that suits your needs for a smooth workflow. You can create a social media system for yourself and your client. If you don’t have Notion or a project management tool, explore other options on this resource. There are many tools available.
5. Social Media Strategy
- After the contract signing or once your client has signed the contract, the client questionnaire has been filled out, and the payment has been made. The next step is to conduct an in-depth research strategy for your client based on the business information gathered from the included client questionnaire in your welcome packet. To ensure alignment, schedule a strategy call with your client to discuss the prepared strategies.
6. Content Planning
- Once the Client Dashboard has been created, it’s time to plan content, gather inspiring content from competitors, and ensure your client captures everything!
💡TIP: If you’re working remotely, plan content in advance (at least 2 weeks before the posting date).
7. Content Gathering
- After planning the content, gather all the necessary content from your client, including photos, logos, raw video footage, or any other useful assets for your content creation process. Also, set a specific date to ensure you have enough time for editing.
8. Content Editing
- Schedule a day or two to edit the content. Inform your client about your preferred editing days so that they can approve the edits and expect to see the revised content. In addition to content editing, you also need to write captions and conduct hashtag research.
9. Approval
- Once the editing is complete, inform your client that the content for the upcoming weeks or the entire month is ready for approval!
10. Scheduling/Posting
- If everything is approved and there are no revisions (which is what every SMM wants), you’re now ready to schedule the content! You can use a scheduling tool to schedule content in advance. Personally, I prefer to schedule content directly on the platform, especially on Instagram, where I also apply some strategies for uploading. However, I also find Facebook Business Suite useful because it’s free. Haha!
